December 12 - 16

This week some students are still welding and some students are painting on ghti can crushers.  It's kind of crazy in the shop with so many different activities going on.  It is kind of fun to see everyone so busy and doing different things.

December 19 - 23

This week we are painting the can crushers.  They look really nice.  The students are proud of their finished projects.  There were a few adjustments for some of the students so that their crushers would work correctly.  Mr. Mertz is grading them this week.

December 5 - 9

Yipee!  The students are finally welding the can crushers.  This is the final step before painting.  The kids are doing a nice job.  It seems like when the students can actually see the finished project coming together they are a lot more cooperative.  I don't ever remember being like this.  i like to think I was always a hard working student in the shop.  I'm sure I didn't goof off as much as these kids want too.

November 28 - December 2

This week the students are tacking the can crushers together and checking one last time.  We are beginning to see the end.  Good thing - Christmas is getting closer!

November 21-25

This week we are putting the can crushers together and making sure they are right.  We had a few dissappointed kid.s who had to redo and fix some things

November 14 - 18

This week the kids are using the drill to drill holes for the rods in the can crushers.  The holes have to be made in exact spots for everything to fit and the crusher to work properly.  Seems like this inexpensive project has a lot of work involved.  But its good since we are teaching the students to recycle and make an inexpensive Christmas gift.  I made one two years ago for my dad and he uses it a lot.

Nov. 7-11

The students are working on the second step this week of making a can crusher.  This week they are cutting out scrap metal pieces to make the can crusher.  These pieces will be added to the rods we cut last week.  This is a very inexpensive project and all kids can do this at very little cost.  Plus, it uses up some of the scrap metal in the shop we have accumulated from bigger projects.

Nov,1-4

This week we are cutting out rods for a can crusher . Every student in the class will be making one.
